When it comes to fashion, the Eighties have become the latest inspiration for a host of celebs. But it's not all fingerless lace gloves and legwarmers... stripes are most definitely in.
The Breton top with its navy and white stripes, was first brought to the attention of the fashion world back in the Twenties when Coco Chanel took the stripey French fishermen's style to new levels.
And everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Bridget Bardot made stripes elegant and sexy.
Today, stripes have made a serious return, from high-end fashion to the high street, jersey tops to dresses.
You don't have to go for the full nautical-themed Breton top with high-waisted sailor pants. Skinny jeans and pumps will give you the authentic Chanel vibe, or try your stripes with bold block colours for a more lively approach.
Striped knitwear, T-shirt dresses and the classic navy and white jersey top are everywhere these days.
And the best thing is, with its timeless style, it'll be a wardrobe staple year after year.

Yuk!! My ex-Wife used to dress in stripey t-shirts looking a cross between a convict and a QPR supporter!! Very un-feminine, un-romantic and more pirate than passionate is the message that this fashion screams out. Tom-Boy yes, feminine no.
Please forget this look!!!
