She may have been one of the highest paid supermodels of the 1980s, but Cindy Crawford has insisted that she wouldn't succeed in today's size-zero fashion world.Speaking to a German magazine, the 43-year-old said: "I would not have become a supermodel in 2009. I look too healthy."
Cindy's healthy athletic figure was all the rage back in 80s but recent months have seen a number of concerns being raised over the size zero trend.
Her "big breasts, normal thighs and toned upper arms" are no longer what the industry is looking for, says Cindy.
Germany's most popular women's magazine this month gave up on professional models, insisting that it wasted too much time digitally erasing protruding bones.
And the fashion houses have come in for some heavy criticism. Ralph Lauren have now twice been found to have altered images to make models waists smaller, while Karl Lagerfeld accused the size zero critics of being "fat mummies who sit with bags of potato chips".
But Cindy will always be known as one of the original supermodels, and she's more than happy with her figure.
"That's why I like being in my 40s so much. Being at peace with yourself, knowing about your strengths beyond being pretty."
Perhaps the fashion world could take a leaf out of Miss Crawford's book.

Cindy is right she would never make it as a model today because she is absolutely gorgeous. Cindy is a beautiful woman. The fashion industry is determind to destroy women. They do it from the inside out. That is why they portray models who look like ten year old corpses. I believe that the fashion industry is run by people who hate and despise women. That is why they want to destroy them from the inside out.
Good on the German magazine for dropping "Professional" models. STOP buying these magazines that portray Stick insects. STOP feeding the beast. Then the fashion industry will have to change to survive.
