It all starts with just the odd one, plucked meticulously from your gorgeous locks. But before you know it, a decision has to be made - to dye or not to dye?Well, if L'Oreal have their way, it could be goodbye to grey as their science experts develop a product to turn back time.
The boffins at L'Oreal's research and development HQ believe that they have a product that will return you to your hair's natural colour. Apparently it will involve an oral element, as well as a range of haircare products, but won't be on the market for 10 years.
Patricia Pineau, L'Oreal's Research Communications Director, told the Daily Mail: "Hair is an enigma.
"It is a fibre, a material with physical properties. It is also a living organ that grows, greys and falls out. How can we fight this? Do we need a physical approach or a biological approach?"
And here comes the science bit.
"When hair goes grey, there is a progressive disappearance of the melanocytes from the hair. While there are still melanocytes in the hair, there is still hope that it could be re-pigmented," she said.
It might be 10 years away girls, but with L'Oreal spending vast sums of money (around £581 million last year) on research, anything seems possible.
