They might be known as the second worst lovers in the world, but there's some good news for British men this morning.According to researchers in Holland, the Brits are making a lasting impression in the bedroom with the greatest stamina.
Scientists at Utrecht University in the Netherlands were investigating premature ejaculation in the study of nearly 500 men.
And the pressure was on for the volunteers whose sexual performance was measured against the clock. The average British man managed a full 10 minutes before reaching orgasm.
The Americans came second with a reasonable eight minutes, followed by the Dutch on 6.5 minutes.
The Spaniards, voted top of the World's Greatest Lover poll, climaxed after only 4.9 minutes and sadly, it was the Turks who finished bottom of the pile with only 4.4 minutes.
A spokesman told The Sun: "The UK had the longest time. We found no major difference in those who used condoms. But men who drank alcohol before sex tended to last longer."
Which may explain the British stamina prowess.
Though one volunteer lasted a heroic 52 minutes before peaking, spare a thought for the poor chap who lasted just six seconds... his nationality remains a mystery.
