Pamela Anderson at London Fashion WeekSeeing a celebrity with breast implants is par for the course in these modern times with everyone from Pamela Anderson to Jodie Marsh succumbing to the big breasted look.

But according to a new study, stars such as Pammie and Katie Price are fuelling the demand for ever larger chests.

Though medical experts have warned that super-sized implants can cause long-term damage to the breast tissues, the average implant size has risen by 25 per cent over the past seven years.

Cosmetic surgery group The Firm revealed that the average implant that they are now asked for has increased from 240 cubic centimetres to 310 as young women seek to emanate their surgically enhanced heroines.

Founding surgeon at The Firm, Patrick Mallucci, told the Daily Mail: "There is a very fine line between enhancement and distortion, and it's easy to cross that line.

"It's very important that people realise that going too big can create an unnatural looking breast, distortion and long-term breast tissue damage."

But Mr Mallucci added that it was important to change people's perceptions of the implants, saying: "We're trying to change the way people are thinking about breast surgery and breast enlargement.

"Patients may not understand before their consultation that there may be a limit to the size that they can have without risking damage to the breasts.

"The larger the implant women have, the higher the risk of drooping breasts and wrinkling."

Which, let's face it girls, was what we're trying to avoid in the first place.
