It's not only the waif-like figure of Kate Moss making it big in the high street these days.Proud larger lady Beth Ditto this week celebrated the launch of her plus size collection for high street brand Evans.
The 28-year-old Gossip singer, who has previously commented in no uncertain terms on the rise of the size zero culture, and is clearly proud to launched an electric collection for the store, which specialises in sizes from 14 to 32.
Originally asked to design for Topshop, Ditto refused after criticising their sizing policy. But undeterred, mogul Philip Green had no such problem persuading the singer to design for Evans.
Ditto's collection is a colourful and bold first foray into fashion, with printed dresses and leggings in fuchsia, violet and jade green.
Head of design for Evans, Lisa Marie Peacock, told the Daily Mail: "She totally owned it. It wasn't really a collaboration, it was Beth's ideas that really drove this project.
"What amazed us was that she already had an amazing sketch book full of ideas."
At the celebrity-packed launch party were Yasmin Le Bon, Peaches Geldof, Simon Cowell and, of course, Kate Moss, showing their support for the latest celebrity fashion designer.
Beth's 22-piece collection includes shift dresses, leggings, accessories and shoes and launches in stores from July 9th. To check out her designs visit www.bethdittoatevans.co.uk
