Shoppers are expected to be queueing up tomorrow when a 'miracle' skin cream goes back on sale.Demand for the Boots product is expected to be even higher than when it first went on sale in 2007 - because scientific tests have since proved that it does actually reduce wrinkles.
Dermatologists at the University of Manchester carried out trials on 60 volunteers with sun-damaged skin - and discovered that the cream could help to reduce the most common signs of ageing.
They found that 70 per cent of people using the cream for a year had significantly fewer wrinkles than those who were given a placebo.
The study was published online today - just a day before the product goes back into Boots stores across the country.
No 7 Protect & Perfect Intense Beauty Serum will cost £19.75 for a 30ml tube. It was originally launched in 2006 as No 7's Refine and Rewind cream, and cost £16.75.
Chris Griffiths, the professor of dermatology at Manchester who led the study, said effects varied from person to person - but were visible on before and after photographs after six months.
He also stressed that the research was funded by Boots, but independently controlled. The findings would have been published even if the results were not favourable.
"Boots was actually very brave to subject its product to this kind of testing," professor Griffiths said. "It is rare for such benefits to be reported for an over-the-counter anti-ageing product and this study paves the way for larger studies with more statistical power."
Perhaps some of the following celebs could tone down their slap a bit if they got their hands on the wonder-cream...

Lol, Jenny.
Realy!!!...Surgery? That's the ultimate money extractor of the vain, with no guarantee you will look any better but become a time bomb and an advert fro shrapnel the day nature has its revenge.
Baby oil, maybe...keep the 'elasticity' in the skin, remember those old stretch marks after giving birth? Well it gets rid of those as well if you apply it while you're carrying.
Well done Boots! It's about time someone pissed off the money grubbers.

Hi Jennifer,
I quote: "Boots was actually very brave to subject its product to this kind of testing," professor Griffiths said. "It is rare for such benefits to be reported for an over-the-counter anti-ageing product and this study paves the way for larger studies with more statistical power."
As for the face caked assistants, one will always encounter members of the 'flat earth society.' So I suggest the ultimate proof being to apply the cream to a prune, and shout BINGO! at the top of your voice when it reverts back to being a sugar plum.

I wonder if these claims are true...WHY dont we get a money back guarantee.???? You will notice that they state (quote: Chris Griffiths, the professor of dermatology at Manchester who led the study, said effects varied from person to person - but were visible on before and after photographs after six months.)
i think the fact that they say it varies from person to person covers themselves...
My mother has beautiful skin....Her secret...She eats healthily..she drinks PLENTY of water (for hydration, and the only routine she has witrh her skin is this simply..After a bath or shower..while your still wet...massage baby oil into your skin..its important to do this while your still wet..then dry yourself and apply NIVEA..Yes CHEAP reliable nivea to your face neck and hands...and any dry skin ares dab a little vasoline... You really do not need to spend your money on expensive creams..even without creams if you massage gently your face each night your skin would become firmer..Nivea is fantastic... BUT most of all drink planty of water...

It takes a man to know the best anti-wrinkle product!!The best, safest completely natural skin moisturiser and wrinkle reducer is virgin coconut oil. Just look at the ladies of South East Asia.

But isn't that the whole point of these products? Many women will spend hundreds of pounds on beauty cream, make up, etc, in the hop that they will make themselves look more beautiful.Big companies play on this; finally they have found a product which may actually make some people look younger. So no-one should eb getting stressed; if you don't want it, don't buy it. There will always be people who will buy into that sort of stuff.

It's difficult to trust all these companies to purchase their skin care products. I am of asian skin, probably medium brown and what I worried about is to purchase something that makes me tanner. I wish to maintain my face's skin tone but something that can aid sunblock, hydration, uneven skin tone, clear cpmplexion, reduce wrinkles, for as long as nine hours. Some skin products are really for people who prefer to be tanned but is there a product that can give me all that benefits without the worry that it would make me tanner? For the manufacturers, please remember most asian or black skins do not need cream to make them tan but fairer.
